Reinstate early morning playing hours for Pickleball at Block 47 Marine Crescent

The Issue

We are a tight-knit community of seniors living in the Marine Parade area who work to remain active and socialise to promote active aging. However, recently our routine took a hit as the rules for playing pickleball in front of Block 47 Marine Crescent were narrowed to a rigid time frame of 9am to 9pm from previous start time of 7.30am. All this, due to a noise complaint when clearly the traffic and nearby schools produce greater noise pollution.

This sudden restriction on an early start time feels unfair, particularly when considering that the basketball and badminton courts in HDB estates do not have such a rule. And 9am is also when the heat gets unbearable.

This issue seems to be addressed more quickly by the town council than many other complaints like hoarding.  Regulating pickleball playing hours underscores a disregard for the well-being and active lifestyles of Marine Parade's senior residents.

We urge the town council to review this decision and reinstate the original pickleball playing hours to support an active lifestyle for the aging community. It's not just about pickleball, but more about the community, health, and well-being of nearby neighbours. Please sign this petition to show your support for us, for community spirit, and for promoting active aging.
