We, the employees and store teams of Westfield Valley Fair, are urging mall management to reconsider the extended Sunday operating hours that now keep us open until 9:00 PM. This change has come gradually—first moving from a 7:00 PM close to 8:00 PM, and now to 9:00 PM—with no real benefit to foot traffic or sales. In fact, most stores report little to no business after 7:00 PM on Sundays.

It is the shared sentiment of the retail community within Westfield Valley Fair that the current Sunday closing time of 9:00 PM is unsustainable and unproductive.

 The extra hours only add unnecessary strain to retail staff, who are being asked to stay late with no added compensation or purpose. Sundays are traditionally a day for family, rest, and spiritual time in many cultures—values that are being disregarded in favor of longer hours that don’t translate into profit. Other nearby malls continue to close earlier, making this policy feel particularly out of touch and unfair. We believe this is not about serving customers, but about squeezing extra dollars at the expense of the people who keep this mall running. We ask mall management to restore earlier Sunday closing hours—preferably 7:00 PM no later than 8:00PM for the sake of staff well-being, cultural respect, and operational sustainability.
