On May 18, 2023, the Colleton County School District Board of Trustees placed Superintendent Dr. Vallerie Cave on Administrative Leave pending an investigation of information that was brought to the boards attention. It was stated that they would meet again on May 23, 2023 to further discuss the matter. On May 23, 2023, the board met again and there was still no action on the matter. At this time, the board has not released any information or have they provided an update. That being stated, unless there is further action that can and will be taken, the citizens of Colleton County would like to have Dr. Cave reinstated IMMEDIATELY!!! Dr. Cave has signed our Class of 2023 diplomas and it would be an absolute injustice to our students if Dr. Cave does not present the students with their diplomas on Saturday, June 3, 2023.
