I sent an email to SEStrans telling them about my petition and I also found some recent links which are relevant.

The first link is about the introduction of a not-for-profit community transport service which could be established if all else fails, this second is about the campaign to get Glasgow's buses back under public control which has been taken forward by SPT and the third is about a fresh bid for better public transport in Grangemouth which includes a campaign to reopen the railway station there and improve links with existing ones as well as improving links to FVRH (with links to Polmont & FVRH being operated as one route).
