I just spoke with the City Council, again...

I realize now, how little people care and how many folks still don't get it.

Please allow me to reexplain the whole situation:

If you buy things, you pay sales tax and you do not have a choice!  Inflation makes things more expensive, so the city now collects 38% more sales tax than ever before.

1% of the city sales tax goes to the Rec Reaction Center and there is enough money for the gym to be open 16 hours a day, 365 days a year, with no membership costs and change left over!  BUT, the City's Parks Department now draws its operational budget from the Rec Center's resources AND city employees got 10 to 20% pay increases between 2022 and 2023 AND the city plans to take on frivolous and unnecessary park projects SO you and your family cannot use the Sauna between 2 and 4 PM, your kids cannot play basketball on a Friday night and the city's crown jewel is completely closed on Sundays.  Closing the gym on Sundays means the local business suffer and the lost economic impact undermines the very tax revenue that pays for the Rec Center in the first place.

Spread the word, ask the news to cover the story, and / or tell city council directly on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
