Our amazing lollipop man, Dave, has served our community diligently for many years. His crucial role has assured us all that our children cross Velmead Road safely, to and from school every day.

A lollipop man's job is more than just traffic control. In 2019, a report by the Transport Research Laboratory highlighted that these figures are valuable members of the community, providing not only a crucial role in road safety but also being a familiar, friendly face for children on their way to school (Transport Research Laboratory, 2019).

Despite the critical importance of this position to local safety, Dave was suddenly removed from his post. This absence has been felt deeply within our community. We worry about the safety of our children without Dave's responsible guidance. Furthermore, we miss his friendly interaction that often served to brighten up our children's day.

We should not undermine the importance of these roles in child safety and community spirit. Let Dave continue doing the job he loves and the job that keeps our children safer. We request the relevant entities to reinstate Dave as our lollipop man. Please sign this petition to support the return of Dave to his post, and provide a safe school crossing.
