The Issue

The unexpected removal of Coach Shane LaFortune from Buena Park High School's aquatics program has directly impacted my son, along with all the other student-athletes who look up to him. This change has not only disrupted their athletic routines but has also affected their morale and performance.

Coach LaFortune has been a pivotal figure in our community. Under his leadership, the aquatics program has thrived, fostering a space where students could excel both in and out of the pool. His dedication to the students is unparalleled and has fostered an environment where young athletes could grow, learn, and succeed.

With Coach LaFortune at the helm, the program has seen remarkable achievements, including several league championships, qualification to CIF most every year, CIF championship, and numerous personal bests from the athletes. More importantly, he has nurtured the athletes' personal development and teamwork, critical components of any successful sports program. Removing him from this role not only deprives the students of growth opportunities but also dismantles a program that has been a cornerstone of our community.

Statistics from years past demonstrate the undeniable progress and success of the aquatics teams under Coach LaFortune's guidance. His removal threatens to unravel the hard-earned accomplishments and positivity he has instilled in these young athletes.

Reinstating Coach LaFortune is not just vital for the present athletes but essential for the future of Buena Park High School's Aquatics Program. We urge the school's administration to reconsider their decision and reinstate a coach who has proven his invaluable contributions to our community.

Let us come together to support our students and preserve the integrity of their beloved program. Sign this petition to bring back Coach Shane LaFortune, ensuring our athletes can continue to thrive under his exceptional guidance.
