Barry’s Knap Lido swimming pool provided the town’s residents with somewhere to enjoy summer days with family and friends.

Long hot summers were enjoyed each year, generating valuable income for the council from entry fees, season tickets, swimming lessons (a potentially life saving skill), rental of on-site chalets and the Snack Shack.

Many residents of Barry point to Pontypridd, where its Lido was maintained and still opens to this day. 

Sadly the Barry & Vale councils must accept the blame for allowing the Knap Lido to fall into disrepair, ending with the pool being filled in and laid to grass which now generates no income for the council but costs to maintain.
