Reinstate Ar’Mani Jenkins, Amyia Parker, and Glynnirea Barnes at Advantage Charter Academy

The Issue

This is a personal plea for justice. My best friends, Ar’Mani Jenkins, Amyia Parker, and Glynnirea Barnes were unjustly suspended from Advantage Charter Academy in Baker, LA for over 20 days due to an alleged “gang fight”. The truth of the matter is that these girls stood up against bullying. They fought a fair 3v3 to protect one of their own - Amyia Parker - who was being bullied. Also the students constantly were threatened by another student, which they stood up too.

The school administration was aware of these ongoing threats but failed to take necessary action. In the face of this neglect from those who were supposed to ensure their safety, my friends did what they believed was right. They stood up against the bully when nobody else would.

Bullying is a serious issue in schools across America with approximately 20% of students ages 12-18 experiencing bullying nationwide (National Center for Education Statistics). It's crucial that schools not only address bullying incidents promptly but also support those who are brave enough to stand against it.

We urge Advantage Charter Academy and its administration to reconsider their decision. We ask them not only reinstate Ar’Mani Jenkins, Amyia Parker, and Glynnirea Barnes but also review their policies on handling such situations in future.

Please sign this petition if you believe in standing up against bullying and unfair punishment. Let's send a clear message that we won't tolerate injustice towards students trying to create safer environments within our schools.
