Like so many students, I struggle with my grades. Having time with teachers makes a noticeable difference to my academic success, especially as I can't come early or stay late. Sadly, this opportunity is being stripped away from us. The decision to end our advisory periods leaves many of us feeling lost, unsupported and stressed about our academic future.

According to the American Psychological Association, students who receive personal guidance from teachers demonstrate a greater understanding and retention of their subjects. Moreover, it is stated by the National Education Association that teacher-student interaction beyond the classroom contributes significantly to positive student outcomes. Our collective academic future depends on these critical, supportive sessions.

It's time our school board recognized the importance of advisory periods. We, the students, truly need this help. Let our voices be heard. Let us thrive and achieve the potential we all have.
