Airbnb has built its brand on trust, community, and fairness. But behind the scenes, hosts across the platform are being suspended, delisted, and silenced — based on false, retaliatory guest reviews submitted without verification or consequence.

Many hosts, including myself, have had our accounts shut down without warning, the ability to respond, or access to Airbnb’s dispute tools. Some of us have lost our livelihoods overnight — despite years of compliance, 5-star reviews, and Superhost status.

This is not just a technical issue — it’s a violation of basic fairness and due process.

As a former trusted Airbnb Host and Superhost, I have welcomed hundreds of guests into my home with integrity, warmth, and care over the last six years. My listing was a guest favorite with glowing 5-star reviews. I followed Airbnb's rules, upheld high standards, and earned glowing reviews for creating a safe, comfortable space for travelers.

Then, one guest violated multiple house rules and when I enforced them they retaliated by posting a false and damaging review to get a free stay and a full refund. Instead of investigating, Airbnb suspended my account without warning or the opportunity to challenge the false review. My home was delisted, and I lost my livelihood overnight — despite years of dedicated, honest hosting.

This isn’t just about me — it’s about every host who follows the rules and trusts the system to be fair. If Airbnb can shut down a Host and Superhost based on one false review, without due process, it can happen to anyone.

We call on Airbnb to:

1.     Investigate claims made in reviews before taking action against hosts

2.     Provide hosts the right to dispute and respond to any accusation before enforcement

3.     Stop immediate suspensions without notice or access to the Resolution Center and messaging tools

4.     Remove proven false or retaliatory reviews that violate Airbnb’s content and reviews policies

5.     Ensure transparency in Trust & Safety decisions, especially when a host’s business is on the line

False accusations, especially when motivated by retaliation for rule enforcement, should never result in automatic suspensions. Hosts deserve the same protections Airbnb grants to guests.
