Reinstate 5th Grade Class Limits

Reinstate 5th Grade Class Limits
The Issue
Please sign our petition to reverse the decision to increase the average student teacher ratio in 5th grade classrooms in Round Rock ISD from 24:1 to 27:1 that occurred during the summer of 2024 and changed class sizes for the 2024-2025 school year.
Prior to the 2024-2025 school year, Round Rock ISD maintained 5th grade student/teacher ratios at 24:1. We want the district to reimplement the standard classroom size for 5th grade classrooms as an average of 24 students beginning with the 2025-2026 school year.
The increase experienced during the current school year has been burdensome to the teachers and detrimental to classroom instruction across numerous campuses where class sizes are now ranging from 25-29 students. We are requesting the district reverse this decision for the 2025-2026 school year so our elementary students experience consistency in classroom sizes throughout their K-5 education and return to safer environments. This will also reduce the burden on our 5th grade teachers who often do not have adequate time to provide small group break out instruction for so many students nor the space for all of the students in the classrooms, which were designed for smaller class sizes at the elementary level.
Please help our students and teachers!
