The Issue

The streets of Bacoor are facing a big problem involving pile up litter and improper waste disposal. It not only diminish the beauty of Bacoor, but also put a big risk in the health of its residents. The growing garbage not only attracts pests and insects, but also clog up drains and increasing the chance of a flood. If this issue is left unattended, it will continue to harm the well-being of our community but also the environment we live in.

As the eminent arrival of rainy season in the Philippines, problem caused by waste will rise. Here are some of the most common problem faced in Bacoor during rainy seasons:

• Unpleasant Smell - Decomposing waste can produce unpleasant smell that can pollute air causing it to not only smell but may also be harmful.
• Environmental Damage - Plastics and non-biodegradable waste can be washed up in rivers and/or oceans polluting them in the process. This can be harmful to our marine life.
• Flooding - Garbage can clog up our drainage that can lead to flooding during heavy rain.
• Health Risk - Pile up trash can be a breading ground for rats, mosquitoes, and other insects that can carry deseases like leptospirosis, dengue, and malaria.

This petition is push people to volunteer in community clean-up drive to help maintain cleanliness and protect people from illnesses. In removing garbage, we can prevent floods, we can prevent our air from being polluted, and to help avoid various illnesses and the spread of deseases in our community. This activity also strengthen our unity because it shows bayanihan to keep our surroundings safe. Taking part shows responsibility and concern for the environment. With everyone's help, we can keep a clean and safe place to live in. "Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success."
