The Issue

My friend and coworker, Meghan, was fired for something she said and did off the clock. She always came to work and did a great job. While what she said and did was out of pocket a tad bit, she took ownership and accountability. She was sick and she was exhausted, which isn’t an excuse, but instead of trying to get to the bottom of it and rectify the situation, she was fired without being able to say her piece.

Since being fired, Meghan has taken significant steps towards personal growth and improvement. She has gotten into therapy and become sober from alcohol, showing her commitment to turning her life around. This effort and dedication prove that she is not only willing to learn from her mistakes but also to make amends and improve herself both personally and professionally.

The hasty decision to terminate her employment has not only affected her livelihood but also neglected the possibilities for conflict resolution and reconciliation. It has also changed the work environment and aura. It’s not as fun and a lot of us agree that nothing is the same without her. Employers should be compassionate and willing to understand the underlying issues that their employees might face, especially when the employee shows genuine remorse and willingness to change.

Rehiring Meghan would not only right a wrongful decision but also set a precedent for fair treatment of employees who are willing to own up to their actions and grow from them. Everyone deserves a second chance, especially when they have demonstrated the willingness and ability to do better.

Please show your support for Meghan by signing this petition to get her rehired. Let's help her get back on her feet and rebuild her career with the support and understanding she needs and deserves.
