
As with many articles surrounding algorithmic bias, this too makes no mention of the humans, families and destruction being caused. It is no longer a probability. It is a dystopian nightmare for those stuck on the outside.
As AI becomes more widespread, there are more discussions about the inherent biases of some AI screening tools used by employers.
These risks in data bias require human resource executives to ensure there are third party audits on the companies they are using for recruiting practices to ensure the data sets are not data biased. One of the reasons the right questions are not being asked by HR and procurement officers is their lack of industry knowledge of AI and the risks inherent in data bias.
While some job seekers use AI tools themselves, it "does not equate to trusting AI to make fair hiring decisions," said ASA chief executive officer Richard Wahlquist, who suggested that hiring managers "increase transparency and accountability in their hiring processes and use tools that meet current and emerging ant-ibias standards."
"Job seekers may feel comfortable using artificial intelligence tools in their job search, but that does not equate to trusting AI to make fair hiring decisions," said ASA chief executive officer Richard Wahlquist. "
As AI tools become more widely deployed, it's critical that hiring managers work to increase transparency and accountability in their hiring processes and use tools that meet current and emerging anti-bias standards. It's also critically important that policymakers and technologists thoughtfully consider measures intended to lower bias in AI hiring systems."
