The principle role of energy regulator OFGEM is to PROTECT CONSUMERS of gas and electricity. With a predicted 77% energy price cap due in October, it is clear they are FAILING us. This is UNSUSTAINABLE for MILLIONS. OFGEM are currently independently regulated. They claim; 

• 'We engage with government and others to ensure consumers get the greatest benefit from independent regulation'
• 'Our ability to make a positive difference for consumers stems from the fact we have powers to regulate independently, and we have the SUPPORT OF SOCIETY AND GOVERNMENT to use those powers'
• 'We recognise that we cannot take our status as an independent regulator - and government and public support for our independence - for granted. WE MUST EARN SUPPORT BY DEMONSTRATING THE BENEFITS THAT INDEPENDENT REGULATION BRINGS FOR CONSUMERS AND WIDER SOCIETY.'
