In the 80s and 90s instead of applying the Must Carry Rules and Fairness Doctrine equally to Broadcast and Cable news channels, the US Congress and FCC dropped or gutted those federal regulations designed to keep our news sources reliable and unbiased. Since then, the Cable News Channels, and to some degree the broadcast channels directly associated with those Channels have become enormous sources of fallacious articles, lying "News" Hosts, and Corporate propaganda. None of which is being done in the Public Interest which was the entire purpose of the FCC from day one. We call on Congress and the FCC to reinstate all Must Carry rules and the Fairness doctrine to broadcast news, while at the same time designing similar rules and regulations to stop the So Called "Cable News Channels" from disseminating false reporting, hosting divisive shows, and acting outside of the Public Interest. We call for all US News and News/Entertainment shows to be regulated for Factual basis, Cultural bias, and Conflicted ownership expressly in the Public Interest by the FCC for the sake of our Representative Republic. We the People Deserve Trustworthy News sources, not Corporate Propaganda that divides our nation and enriches the sponsors on false reporting or outright lies.
