Regularise services under MGNREGA for long-term workers
Regularise services under MGNREGA for long-term workers
The Issue
For the past 18 years, many dedicated individuals have diligently worked under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), contributing significantly to the society and the nation. Despite having the necessary qualifications and skills for their roles, these workers continue to face numerous challenges such as lack of a comprehensive job policy, stagnation in salary, and absence of essential benefits compared to other sectors.
This ongoing discrimination against MGNREGA workers is not just unfair but also disheartening. These committed individuals have invested years of their lives in executing the nation’s employment guarantee schemes and deserve recognition and regularisation of their services. Remaining unregularised not only impacts their morale but also poses severe difficulties for their families, who depend substantially on this income.
Regularising the services of these workers is crucial for ensuring their economic security and dignity. By doing so, we acknowledge and reward their diligent work and commitment towards enhancing rural employment and infrastructure. It is imperative for the concerned authorities to formulate policies that incorporate periodic salary hikes, ensure job security, and provide other standard benefits available to regular government employees.
Rectifying these issues would not only uplift the morale of these workers but also enhance the efficiency and output of MGNREGA projects by retaining experienced and motivated workers. Let's stand up for their rights and ensure that they receive the recognition and benefits they justly deserve.
We urge the Ministry of Rural Development and other relevant bodies to take immediate and effective action to regularise the services of all long-term MGNREGA workers. Please sign this petition in support of our cause and help bring much-needed change for thousands of deserving workers and their families.
