Due to the advent of COVID-19, the University of the West Indies has cancelled classes and and are scheduled to resume through online classes. Additionally, an announcement has been made where final exams will be held during May-June 2020. We the student body, who are already traumatized and afraid because of this pandemic, some of us are in quarantine having returned to our respective member states, understand the position of the institution, however, humbly request that the University of the West Indies, Cavehill Campus, adopt a 100% coursework evaluation for this semester.

This approach will continue to protect us the students from possibly contracting COVID-19 and alleviate some issues and other trauma students are already facing due to the pandemic. Many student are not in the frame of mind to study for, let alone complete final examinations. This action will also protect our lecturers and other colleagues who may have similar prevailing circumstances. Academically, it will also a true test of our understanding of the subject matter and abilities, pre-COVID 19 trauma. It is a method employed by other universities worldwide and has proven to be efficient through the advent of online degrees.
