During the 2020 COVID-19 crisis, California healthcare workers were pushed to work long, difficult hours to counter against the surge of patients, thereby increasing taxable wages and unwanted, elevated tax brackets. Many worked tirelessly with decreased staff support, lack of adequate break periods, and endangering their health while receiving no hazard pay. California issued waivers allowing hospitals to bypass strict nurse-to-patient ratios and healthcare workers were forced to endure the physical, mental, and emotional toll that came with caring for those affected by COVID. OUR CALIFORNIA HEROES DESERVE MORE THAN APPLAUSE - THEY DESERVE A TAX BREAK. Therefore, we are calling upon CA state legislators and government to cancel the state tax for the year 2020 for all COVID-19 healthcare workers.
