Let me explain a little more to help you understand. 
On average 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men become a victim of domestic abuse in their lifetime. Many of you may associate abuse with beatings, black eyes, broken bones and physical scars. But that’s not always the case. Domestic abuse can also be sexual (including rape), financial, verbal, racial and emotional. Having said this, 2 women every week are murdered in the uk at the hands of their partner. 
After many years of taking behaviour like this, some victims are lucky enough to break free. To finally walk away, sometimes with their children, and try to build a new life. 
Now imagine being married to your abuser? You’ve left but you are still legally bound to them. You go to the divorce courts for help, only for them to take what feels like an eternity granting you that divorce? 
I am petitioning for all victims of domestic abuse to be given a quick divorce as long as they can prove that domestic abuse occurred? To finally help the victims break free from their abusers quickly. The average divorce takes 6 months! Let’s help to change that!
