Reform UK Law Concerning Seizure and Euthanasia of Dogs

The Issue

This petition arises from a personal tragedy. Our family dog of almost 7 years was seized for one out of character incident. He's has never shown any signs of aggression he grew up with 6 children from babys. He was a part of the family. My sister was granted no opportunity to understand why, or to know where her beloved pet was taken. Here we stand against the hasty seizure and potential euthanasia of dogs that exhibit one-off incidents of aberrant behavior without giving the owner a chance to rectify the situation. Or find out why this happened. As it stands, English law permits this, which often results in traumatising outcomes for pet owners. According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), in 2019 alone, more than 22,000 calls about animal cruelty were received in England. While strict laws serve an essential purpose to protect public safety and animal welfare, they should not disregard the possibility of rehabilitation, especially for isolated incidents. We call on the UK Parliament to review and reform the existing laws regarding dog seizure and euthanasia, to ensure justice and compassionate treatment of pets and their owners. Help us give a voice to the innocent pets and their distressed owners. Please sign this petition for change. So family's can have understanding or to be there with him. And have closure. There is no compassion and this has left a massive hole in our family we will never have answers too. JUSTICE FOR RILEY! ❤️😭
