• Raise the awareness of people to the negative impact of the current practices on people and the society. Some of which include: 

1. Women being taken as properties(slavery) because the current traditional marriage rites and practices made them a purchase item on which their husbands paid all their savings (with most going into debt) and for which reason the husbands can treat the women however they feel including but not limited to violating their personal rights and emotional wellbeing.
2. Women losing their true love because they were unable to afford the high financial demands of the traditional rights compared to other cultures.
3. Women resorting to having child(ren) out-of wedlock for fear of living an unfilled life of not getting married for reasons outside their control.
4. Women staying in abusive marriages because they were sold to their husbands in the name of traditional demands.
5.  Young men running away from their supposed spouses because they cannot afford the traditional marriage demands without going into long-term debt. In real terms, a young man who earns a minimum wage cannot complete current traditional marriage demands with one year salary as of today.
6. Young men and women resorting to starting a family without fulfilling the traditional marriage rights and spending their entire lives working to pay the rites. Most of the men are made to marry the dead women on the event that they die before the traditional rites are paid in full.
7. Most children are raised in unsettled homes seeing their mothers abused, and their father under increased psychological and financial pressure of meeting both current financial demands of the home as well as paying traditional marriage rites that were left unsettled.
8. Young men and women resenting the idea of marriage because of the thought of the immense financial and psychological demand.
9. Family members experiencing serious financial strain in a bid to support traditional marriage rites.

• gather significant number of signatures to engage the custodians of the traditional customs and practices into reviewing the practices to allow people perform all traditional marriage rites with at most 3 months salary of a young man while keeping open entertainment as optional.
