Reform the Unjust Family Court System

Reform the Unjust Family Court System
The Issue
I am a concerned citizen touched directly by the harsh realities of our biased family court system. Our court system, which was instituted to provide justice, has turned into a mechanism that is ripping children away from competent, loving parents while financially draining hardworking mothers and fathers mercilessly.
The staggeringly high number of cases favoring one parent over the other, irrespective of the well-being of the child, has become a significant concern. In the U.S, about 83% of custodial parents are mothers (source: The U.S. Census Bureau). This statistic indicates an undeniable bias that does not necessarily serve the best interests of the child. Moreover, the financial strain it puts on families is enormous, with legal fees running into tens of thousands of dollars.
Additionally, the psychological impact is damaging not only to parents but most worryingly to the children who are caught in the middle. Studies have shown that this can result in life-long trauma affecting their future relationships and mental health (source: The American Psychological Association).
There is an urgent need for systemic change. We demand an impartial review of family court proceedings, strict laws against gender bias, and regulations to control skyrocketing legal charges. Furthermore, counseling services should be offered to both parents and children to mitigate the psychological implications. Our hope for a fair, just, and considerate family court system lies in your support.
Please, sign this petition and stand for a reformation of an unjust system.
