I, like many others in the UK, have personally experienced issues with how the Child Maintenance Services (CMS) operates. The current system is flawed and requires a complete overhaul to better serve families and children. As it stands, there are countless stories of families struggling due to inefficient processes and unfair decisions made by CMS. The Office of National Statistics reports that as of 2020, there were approximately 2.5 million separated families in the UK, many of whom rely on CMS for financial support (source: ONS). This highlights the magnitude of people potentially affected by this issue.

The problems with CMS range from administrative errors to delays in payments which can cause significant financial distress for single parents who depend on these funds to raise their children adequately. It's time we demand a comprehensive review and reform of this vital service.
