Reform the McClendon Standard to Support Bereaved Parents

Reform the McClendon Standard to Support Bereaved Parents
The Issue
The McClendon standard, established in Alabama, has been a source of pain for many parents who have lost their children through no fault of their own. This standard sets an extremely high bar for proving that a parent is unfit, often leaving bereaved parents without the support they need during this difficult time. According to statistics from the Alabama Department of Human Resources, hundreds of parents each year are left struggling due to this stringent legal criterion (Alabama Department of Human Resources). We believe that it's time for a change. By reforming the McClendon standard, we can provide much-needed help and support to these grieving families. Please sign this petition and join us in advocating for these bereaved parents in Alabama.
