Reform the Child Welfare Process and Reevaluate Terminated Parental Rights Cases

The Issue

I am a parent who has experienced the heartbreak of having my parental rights terminated by the child welfare system. The tactics used by Children and Youth Services (CYF) seemed to work in their favor, not mine. This is a story shared by many parents across our nation, where child welfare processes often seem biased and unfair.

The current system is designed to protect children from harm, but it sometimes fails to consider the devastating impact of separating families unnecessarily. In 2019 alone, over 273,000 children entered foster care in the United States (Children's Bureau). However, research shows that family preservation services can reduce this number significantly (Child Welfare Information Gateway).

We need reforms that ensure fairness and transparency in all cases involving termination of parental rights. Every situation should be thoroughly evaluated without prejudice or bias for better outcomes for both parents and children involved.

It's time we demand change - not just for me but for every parent who has been unfairly treated by an imperfect system. Sign this petition if you believe in fairer child welfare processes and reevaluation of terminated parental rights cases!
