The Issue

I’m currently enrolled in Professor Megan Barnes' Human Anatomy & Physiology class, and like many of my classmates, I am finding it extraordinarily difficult. Despite devoting countless hours to studying and participating in study groups, we are barely managing to get by. This course, which should build a solid foundation for our future studies and careers, instead feels designed to create stress and confusion.

The problem lies in the lack of clear guidance and direction offered by Professor Barnes. With vague coursework instructions and exams that are notoriously unpredictable, students like me are struggling to succeed. While our GPA suffers, our confidence in pursuing our degrees wavers. The class average is dismally low compared to parallel courses taught by other professors in the department. These instructors offer structured support, clear outlines, and resources that align with their examinations.

Worse still, this isn’t a new issue. Former students have echoed our frustrations, yet the course remains unchanged. It's unfair and unjust that so many of us are at risk of failing a prerequisite course critical for our careers in healthcare simply because of ineffective teaching practices. We believe that the institution has a responsibility to provide quality education that equips us with the necessary skills and knowledge.

This petition calls for a thorough review and reform of Professor Barnes' Human A&P course structure. We need more transparent communication and clear study guidelines. Exams should be a true reflection of the material covered in class. This change is vital not only for the current students but also for those in future cohorts who should have the opportunity to succeed.

We urge the educational administrators to step in and ensure that all instructors provide adequate support that gives students a fair chance at academic success. Join us in asking the institution to raise the standard of teaching for this crucial course so it becomes a stepping stone, not a stumbling block, in our pursuit of a medical career.

Please sign this petition to request immediate action to improve Professor Barnes' Human A&P course, so students can thrive rather than just survive.
