Reform Practices for Treatment of Stray Dogs

The Issue

We, as a group of classmates and ardent animal lovers, have personally seen and experienced the torment that stray dogs undergo in our society. The unacceptable and harsh treatment meted out to these innocent creatures is a matter of deep concern to us and should be, we believe, to all compassionate members of our society.

According to renowned animal rights groups like ASPCA, stray animals, especially dogs, continue to face inhumane treatment that greatly affects their health and survival. There are believed to be over 70 million stray animals in the U.S alone, and about 6.5 million animals end up in U.S. shelters each year. Among these, dogs make a significant proportion. Furthermore, many of them are euthanized because shelters lack the necessary resources to care for them long-term.

Through this petition, we are seeking reform in practices concerning stray dogs. We demand the introduction of adequate measures that ensure their proper care and protection. Solutions could include investing more in animal shelters, enforcing stricter animal cruelty penalties, promoting neutering and spaying, and more programmes to encourage adopting instead of buying pets.

Every signature brings us a step closer to achieving a future where stray dogs no longer have to suffer due to human neglect and cruelty. We urge you to join us in standing up for our four-legged friends who cannot speak for themselves. Please sign this petition.
