The Issue

We, the undersigned parents and child care providers of Nassau County, demand immediate reform of the child care subsidy system within the Nassau County Department of Social Services.
Renewal applications and cumulative payment processing are severely delayed. Parents often do not receive renewal documents on time. Even when documents are downloaded, completed, and submitted by the deadline, cases can take over five months to process.
During this time:
-- Providers continue caring for children without payment.

--Closure letters are not issued in a timely manner.
--Payments accumulate and may take up to eight months to be released.
--Small daycare businesses are financially strained.
--Families are left in uncertainty about coverage.
This is not just an inconvenience — it is a systemic failure affecting working families and small businesses in Nassau County.

We demand:
--A secure online renewal portal.
--Digital submission of all required.      documents.
--Automatic confirmation when documents are received.
--Clear processing timelines.
--Timely closure notices.
--Prompt payment during renewal review periods.

Nassau County families and providers deserve transparency, efficiency, and accountability.

We urge DSS leadership and county officials to act immediately.
