Reform Juvenile Laws Concerning Murder Charges

Reform Juvenile Laws Concerning Murder Charges
The Issue
My son was cruelly murdered - a senseless act committed by four teenagers. These young individuals plotted and executed a robbery using counterfeit money, and in the process, escalated their crime to a horrific level. My son was abducted, shot, and his body was disrespectfully discarded in the middle of the road. This occurred in broad daylight, in front of a daycare and a bustling shopping center.
Shockingly, as all the perpetrators are 15 to 16 years old, the District Attorney is considering offering a plea deal to the driver of the vehicle, based on seemingly irrelevant information, despite a gun being found at his feet. This potential plea deal highlights severe issues with our current judicial system's handling of serious crimes committed by juveniles.
There is an urgent need for a reform in juvenile laws, especially regarding heinous crimes such as murder. In 2019 alone, juvenile-related murders accounted for close to 11% of all murders in the United States (source: FBI Uniform Crime Reporting Program). When any juvenile can plot such egregious crime, and potentially receive a reduced sentence due to their age, justice is not served.
Justice cannot be fully achieved until we ensure that penalties correlate with the gravity of the crime, regardless of the perpetrators' age. It is essential that we influence change in our judicial system to honor victims and their families, and to discourage such grim crimes from reoccurring. Join us as we advocate for change to bring justice for our son and other victims of juvenile crime. Please, sign this petition for reforming juvenile laws. I feel that all four individuals made a conscious desicion to plot to rob my son of his firearm. My son is not a criminal he has no past offenses. He served in the army straight out of high school. He deserves justice. All four juveniles are delinquents in our community. Nothing can bring my child back but knowing that they will not be let back out in our community to hurt anyone else helps me sleep some nights. I ask the lawmakers of our state to put your foot down on these juvenile offenders. They already had firearms and ski masks when they showed up. Any one of them could of turned this outcome different. But they didn't. After the first unsuccessful attempt to gather enough people to rob my son they continued to find another individual and they brutally murdered my son and left him in the road to die by shooting him in the head and in the chest. I plead lawmakers to make a change in this state juvenile crime is at its most high. One his year memorial i released 563 orange balloons for the 563 victims to gun violence last year. Marcos favorite color was orange sadly that is the color for gun violence. My son was a beautiful soul and his life had more meaning then even my own. We are asking for help in a tremendous way please.
