Reform Google's play console suspension policy

The Issue

Petition Description

I dedicated three long months of hard work to developing my app. It wasn’t just code—it was passion, sleepless nights, and a genuine effort to create something valuable for users.

After publishing my app on the Play Store, it remained live for only 20 days before my Play Console account was abruptly suspended. There was no prior warning, no chance to correct the issue, and no clear communication.

This sudden suspension caused serious damage—not only to my earnings, but also to my mental health and motivation as an independent developer.

According to current policy enforced by Google, even a minor or unintentional policy violation can result in permanent account suspension. Developers are allowed only one Play Console account in their lifetime, and the $25 registration fee is non-refundable.

To make matters worse, once an account is suspended, developers are effectively locked out of the ecosystem. Creating a new account requires:

New bank accounts

New payment cards

New devices

New identities

This process is unrealistic and unfair for small or solo developers.

What adds to the frustration is the inconsistency in the appeal system.

My first appeal was rejected

My second appeal was accepted

If the violation was truly severe, why was my account restored later?

If it was minor enough to restore, why suspend the account in the first place?

This lack of transparency leaves developers confused, anxious, and powerless.

What We Are Asking For

We are not asking Google to ignore serious violations.

We are asking for fairness, warnings, and transparency.

We demand that Google:

Introduce a warning system for minor or first-time violations

Allow developers a reasonable opportunity to fix issues

Apply consistent and transparent appeal decisions

Protect small and independent developers from irreversible punishment for correctable mistakes

Why This Matters

Developers invest:

Months or years of time

Money and resources

Creativity and innovation

Instant account suspension without warning destroys trust and discourages innovation.

A fair warning-based system would:

Improve app quality

Reduce unintentional violations

Create a healthier developer ecosystem

Call to Action

If you believe developers deserve fair treatment, transparency, and a chance to correct mistakes, please sign this petition and share it.

Together, we can push for a system that supports innovation instead of punishing honest developers.
