Reform FBI Entrapment Practices Involving Elected Officials

Reform FBI Entrapment Practices Involving Elected Officials
The Issue
This plea comes from a deeply personal and unjust experience. My husband, an elected political official, was sent to prison unjustly by the FBI for merely refusing to step down from a political election. He was ensnared in an entrapment scheme, a practice that seems growingly common.
The law enforcement agency that should be a beacon of justice, appears to have derailed from its path. The practices of entrapment, particularly targeting officials elected by public trust, damage the democratic and legal principles upon which our country is built. According to a 2017 report by the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, it is noted that the use of government informants in entrapment cases often leads to unwarranted convictions (No More Secrets: National Standards to End the Abuse of Government Informants).
It's urgently necessary for us to reform these practices, and ensure justice truly prevails. Our elected officials should be able to serve without fear of being unjustly entrapped by the very agencies tasked to safeguard our nation's values. Let us stand against the misuse of power, and demand a thorough revision of these practices. Sign the petition to give voice to this pressing matter. Let us prove that no individual, elected official or otherwise, should ever be subject to such a distorted administration of justice.
