Reform Bill H. 4065 to Support Domestic Violence Survivors

Reform Bill H. 4065 to Support Domestic Violence Survivors
The Issue
As a survivor of domestic violence, I have maneuvered through the labyrinth of the justice system and its flaws. In this journey, I have crossed paths with numerous survivors who shared their powerful stories which were both heart-rending and inspiring. However, the common thread in our experiences has been the inadequacies of Bill S.D. 1733, which fails to provide the assistance and protections that survivors need.
Untold numbers of domestic violence survivors are let down by the justice system every day. In the United States alone, an average of 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner, equating to more than 10 million individuals per year (National Coalition Against Domestic Violence). It is disheartening to see survivors being failed repeatedly due to gaps in our justice system.
Therefore, I'm encouraging everyone to voice their support for the necessary reform of Bill HB4065. The modifications should advocate for a system that truly supports and protects the many strong and resilient survivors of domestic violence. Changes should include increased support services, better legal protection, and improved rehabilitation programs.
A reform in the approach towards domestic violence survivors provided by the justice system is long overdue. Support the countless survivors of such insidious offenses by endorsing an evolution of Bill HB4065. Please sign this urgent petition.
