I'm writing this on behalf of numerous families in Mecklenburg County, including my own, whose lives have been negatively impacted by the handling of cases by the Council for Children's Rights. This organization has demonstrated a lack of impartiality and accountability in multiple instances, which has had catastrophic consequences for the children they are supposed to protect. Instead, their negligent decision-making, tainted by bias, has put at risk the well-being and future of these children.

The Council for Children's Rights needs urgent reform. We demand an immediate and thorough review of all cases, as well as the defunding of the Council until meaningful changes are made to ensure transparency, fairness, and the true representation of children's best interests.

We have concrete evidence in the form of testimonials from a plethora of parents who have borne the brunt of the Council’s mishandlings. This brings to light the need for systemic change to a setup that currently exposes our children to harm rather than protecting them. Given the nature of its work, the Council for Children's rights must be held to the highest standards of accountability.
