Reform Age Restrictions for United States Political Offices

Reform Age Restrictions for United States Political Offices
The Issue
As a concerned citizen of the United States who firmly believes in the potency of modernistic policies and representation for today's society, I am compelled to see a change. It is my heartfelt conviction that the present generation holding seats of power may not fully grasp the complexities of our rapidly evolving societies. This deficiency directly influences decisions related to social evolution, economic security, and cultural relevancy, hence generating the need to address age restrictions for political office bearers.
Currently in the U.S, one must be at least 35 to run for president, 30 to run for the senate, and 25 to serve in the House of Representatives. However, there is no upper age limit, and this has resulted in disproportionately older representation; for instance, the average age of a U.S congressman in 2020 was 57.6 years.
I propose a reform to the age limits for our political officials at every level to be between the ages of 35 to 65. This age group will ensure that the leaders we elect are close enough to the issues plaguing younger generations, yet have the wisdom gleaned from age. It is critical that our representatives not only understand but also embody the values and paradigms that constitutes our world today.
In allowing leaders who are deeply intertwined with the concerns of our modern society, we cultivate a political landscape that is more in sync with the zeitgeist of the 21st Century. Therefore, I urge all who believe in the notion of modern leaders for a modern world to join this call for age reform. Sign this petition and let's effectuate a political evolution that ensures our leaders resonate with our era, our tribulations and our aspirations.
