Reexamination of the Dismissal of Jack Kiesewetter

Reexamination of the Dismissal of Jack Kiesewetter
The Issue
The students at Marist Catholic High School have been incredibly upset by the recent dismissal of beloved teacher Jack Kiesewetter following recent events, especially as the situation triggering the event was greatly exaggerated.
The loss of Mr. Kiesewetter has deeply impacted Marist community. Mr. Kiesewetter was a light and guidance to students. He bridged the gap between students and teachers, fostering a more welcoming community at Marist overall. He was one of the first teachers to demonstrate the pillars of Marist to students and live out the “We Are One” motto. Students have been upset and felt alone following his departure. Kiesewetter has made monumental efforts for Marist, ranging from his leadership on the retreat team to on the track team. The track team is also now without a coach.
The students at Marist Catholic High School in Eugene, OR politely call for the reevaluation of the dismissal of Jack Kiesewetter so that he has full autonomy over whether or not to continue his teaching career at Marist, while considering the full truth and scope of the context, and upholding the Themes of Catholic Social Teaching that Marist as a union stands upon, and upholding the rights as guaranteed, including but not limited to the freedom of speech.
UPDATE: NOT in collaboration with the makers of the petition, a walkout was organized at Marist to demonstrate the support for Kiesewetter and to show that the students want him back.
