On the evening of 5th August, my faithful XL Bully type dog, mixed breed dog,Ziggy, acted in my defence against a group of extremely drunk, racist travellers who had been wreaking havoc in our local pub for days. Previous to my incident, members of this group were involved in a hit and run accident with an elderly woman, who is still in a coma. On the night of my incident, a frightening attack ensued, with a member of the group smashing a glass on my face. My innocent dog, Ziggy, jumped into action to defend me. Despite Ziggy's actions stemming from the necessity to protect me, law enforcement seized my dog without affording us the appropriate information or considering our unique situation. 

Police seizure of XL Bully and XL Bully type mixed breeds dogs like Ziggy, in London has been frequent and indiscriminate, not taking into account whether the dogs have previously or regularly shown aggression, or if the owners have been responsible in their care and training.

There is a dire need for individual evaluation of each case, as a significant number of XL Bully owners are not responsible for others negligent behaviour. Their dogs are often well looked after, highly trained, and not innately dangerous. Just like Ziggy, he is very well trained and a excellently, well behaved, tamed dog 

If an incident does occur, there is a significant bias against dogs of this breed, with harsh and unequal punishments being administered. The pain and distress inflicted upon unsuspecting dog owners are immense and undeserved. We are lost without our Ziggy! Despite exhausting all areas to find out about his wellbeing, we are being told nothing and kept in the dark by law enforcement.

Reform is in urgent need to address the current lack of fairness and transparency in dealing with XL Bullies and their owners. We urge a review of the existing protocols concerning the seizure of XL Bully/ mixed bully type dogs. Allow these dogs and their owners justice and due process.
