The Issue

I'm a passionate animal lover who contributes hundreds of dollars monthly to shelters worldwide. It deeply concerns me that the Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service (SCRAPS) is euthanizing numerous pets that deserve a second chance at finding a loving home.

In Spokane County, several organizations and individuals have bravely intervened to rescue pets slated for euthanasia by SCRAPS, doing so for seemingly no valid reason. We cannot stand by and allow this practice to continue, driven by what seems to be a misguided administration.

Reports indicate that many pets euthanized at SCRAPS could have been placed in caring homes, foster situations, or rescue organizations. The systemic failure to prioritize these options is deeply troubling and unacceptable. The funds currently being used to euthanize animals could be better allocated towards a spay/neuter program to address the overpopulation of pets at its root cause.

An immediate reassessment of SCRAPS' contract with the current administration is necessary. Spokane County must ensure that the policies in place reflect compassion and responsibility towards the animals in our care.

Help us urge Spokane County to take action and end unnecessary euthanasia at SCRAPS. Reforming these practices could save countless animal lives and better serve our community. Let's advocate for a humane and effective approach to managing our county’s animal population.

Join us in demanding an ethical, life-preserving alternative. Sign the petition today to make our voices heard and create a positive change for the animals in Spokane County.
