Our community in Suffield deserves better when it comes to the treatment and care provided by our vet River Valley. Recently, my family faced an unfortunate situation involving our beloved dog being held at the River Valley  facility during a required quarantine. This experience has left us deeply concerned and disheartened about the standards and practices at this location.

Upon retrieving our dog, we encountered numerous issues that no pet owner should face. From poor communication and dismissive interactions to overhearing unprofessional comments from staff after expressing concerns about our dog's wellbeing, it became alarmingly clear that the facility's current protocols and attitude towards animals and their owners need immediate attention and change.

Our family’s ordeal was not an isolated incident. After courageously sharing our story online, we were inundated with replies from other community members who encountered similar situations: owners who felt helpless as their pets were subjected to substandard care, misunderstood, mistreated, or spoken about in inappropriate manners.

It is our sincere belief that animals, who are unable to speak for themselves, deserve a voice. Our community must unite to ensure that River Valley's facilities operate with compassion, professionalism, and transparency. Therefore, we call upon local authorities to reevaluate the operations of River Valley  immediately.

An external audit of their current practices is necessary to identify weaknesses and make improvements. Comprehensive staff training focused on effective communication, professionalism, and animal care standards must be implemented. Additionally, establishing clear protocols for handling concerns from pet owners will foster a more respectful and empathetic environment.
