The Issue

As Pickleball players, we value community, dedication, and fairness. Sadly, the current administration of the Singapore Pickleball Association, led by the existing president, undermines these values. Having taken over from his mother, his tenure has been marked by growing hostility and increasingly exclusive policies, exemplified in the indefensible ban of a 50+ athlete who merely asked about his membership status.

Pickleball is globally recognized as the fastest-growing sport, attracting players from all walks of life not just for the thrill of the game but also its unique ability to foster camaraderie. However, rather than maximizing the potential of this rapid growth, the current Singapore Pickleball Association leadership is stifling it.

Their dismissal of player opinion, suppression of questions, and exclusionary tactics have estranged many devoted Pickleball players like ourselves. This goes against the central tenets of fair sport and proper leadership, frustrating the broadly inclusive community spirit inherent to Pickleball.

When he ousted co-founders from Singapore who were doing a fabulous job at the Asia Federation of Pickleball to promote Pickleball in the region, it all served to heighten his own personal play at becoming the authoritarian figure in the Pickleball scene in Singapore.

Why do we question such behavior? Because we recently played at Delta Sports Complex and noticed that the secretary of the association is overly close to a commercial company who runs an interest group and is also the distributor of a certain Pickleball brand. To us, this is a conflict of interest and we all know that such lines can never be crossed when running an association. This has to stop.

The bullying has now spread to certain companies who have aligned with the negative figures in the association and threatening players purchasing rights and resorting to bullying techniques. These businesses also have to be boycotted as well

For the sake of our sport, our players, and our future, we need new leadership that respects every player's voice and upholds the true spirit of Pickleball. Please help us generate momentum towards this goal by signing this petition.
