Let Redwood Seniors Have Yearbook Quotes

Let Redwood Seniors Have Yearbook Quotes
Why this petition matters
The Redwood Class of 2021 has lost the ability to have a senior quote in the yearbook. We have no prom, no rallies, and a minimal senior year. Senior quotes are a right of passage, and at this point, it is one of the few things we can hold onto. Yearbook quotes are a tradition, a legacy, something that solidifies our high school experience. Most seniors have been looking forward to adding a quote to the yearbook for years, and as it was recently taken away. We understand editing, trimming and approving quotes is time intensive, but as a class we feel as though we should be able to add a quote in order to have one normal thing about our senior year. Words are important. They shape the way we think, act, and feel. They allow students to express themselves and truly showcase who they are. Senior quotes can speak volumes, and tell you who you were looking at, showcase the person that might otherwise be forgotten. Our peers, teachers, and family members need something to showcase the values we embody, the way we think, and the words we want to be remembered by. Though not everyone might submit a quote, the ones who do, do it with purpose. We want to show that, we want to be remembered for more than a picture.
