4-Way Stop needed at dangerous Redwood City, CA intersection (Brewster @ Elwood)

Our son was in front of Sequoia High School on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, when he was struck by a car (while in the middle of the crosswalk) at the intersection of Brewster and Elwood. Some cars had stopped for him, and had motioned for him to proceed across Brewster. One driver didn't see him and they collided. My son is very lucky he could have been more seriously hurt then he was.
I posted on NextDoor about the accident, and was surprised at how many people, including neighbors, bike riders, Sequoia students and their parents, complained about near misses at this intersection. I sat at the intersection the other day and watched 2 students almost get hit while in the crosswalk. It's only a matter of time before someone is going to be seriously injured.
The City of Redwood City has stated that the city's Engineering Dept. would reassess the intersection and consider making it a 4-way stop. I started this petition because I wanted to make sure that everyone's voices are heard. We are a community of people who want to be reassured that our children or our friend's children are safe when they are crossing the street to school.
Thank you for your support.
