Reduce Veterinary Fees for Pensioners /Low-Income and Benefit-Dependent Individuals

Reduce Veterinary Fees for Pensioners /Low-Income and Benefit-Dependent Individuals
The Issue
I am writing this petition first-hand as I have watched beloved pets suffer because they do not receive the necessary medical care due to high veterinary fees. For those of us on low income or dependent on benefits, it is a heartbreaking reality to be faced with the dilemma of choosing between taking care of ourselves and our pets.
Yet, pets are far more than just animals; they are our companions, our family, and it is our responsibility to ensure their health and welfare.
In the UK, an average consultation fee with a vet is £60, according to data from the Association of British Insurers. For those on a constrained budget, these costs are challenging to accommodate. Distressingly, it has been found that up to 2.1 million pets are not being given necessary veterinary care due to these high costs (PDSA Animal Wellbeing Report, 2021).
This petition seeks urgent change in our veterinary healthcare system, one that would allow for reduced veterinary fees for low-income individuals and those dependent on benefits. Everyone deserves the companionship of a pet without having to compromise on providing them the healthcare they need.
To create a more equitable future for all pet owners and their pets, please support this petition. Your signature can make a world of difference in the lives of countless pets and their owners. Please add your voice and sign this petition for reduced veterinary fees today.
