I am a resident of New York State and I, like many others, have come face to face with the unjust practices of EZ Pass. Time and again, we have been on the receiving end of disproportionate fines and fees imposed by EZ Pass for using toll roads. It is a measure that feels more like bullying than a genuine reflection of toll costs. This issue affects not only myself but thousands across New York State who are reliant on these toll roads for daily commuting.

EZ Pass has put undue financial stress on us commuters, with their fees at times multiplying the original toll amount by tenfold. According to a 2016 report from the New York Times, more than a million New York residents have been charged with 'exorbitant penalties', only for the simple act of passing through a toll. This is a practice that severely affects the low- and middle-income residents who are already finding it hard to meet ends meet.

The ask is simple - we demand justice in the toll fees, a reduction in the fines, and a fair means of fee calculation that aligns with income, rather than a set, thoughtless, flat-rate fee. I believe that these changes will provide relief to the thousand of residents who, every day, are burdened by these heavy, unfair fees..
