Reduce the Seaforth, Huron East Council Size to Six Members Before Next Election

The Issue

As a resident of Seaforth, Huron East, ON, Canada, I am deeply concerned about our community's financial health and future. Our council currently consists of 11 members - a number that is double the size of the other nine lower councils in our region. This not only creates unnecessary bureaucracy but also costs us an estimated $300,000 per year.

Our community prides itself on being rural and agricultural with a strong focus on tourism. We believe in sustainable development that aligns with who we are and what we represent rather than development for its own sake. However, the current council size is hindering us from focusing our economic development efforts effectively.

By reducing the council size from 11 to 6 before the next election, we can save significant funds which could be redirected towards hosting one event per month aimed at attracting more tourists and potential residents to our beautiful town. This change will also ensure everyone has an equal chance to run for office without any acclamations.

We don't need more seats at the table; we need more action towards building a prosperous future for all residents of Seaforth, Huron East. Let's make this change happen together! Please sign this petition urging our local government to reduce the council size before the next election.
