As a student at Mankato East High School, I am personally affected by the current bathroom policy. The rule stipulates that students cannot use the restroom in the last ten minutes of class or the first ten minutes, creating discomfort and distress for many of us. This is particularly problematic during certain times of the month when personal needs become more urgent.

The issue extends beyond mere discomfort. It disrupts our focus and learning environment when we are unable to attend to our basic needs in a timely manner. However, some teachers interpret this rule strictly, refusing bathroom requests even outside of this ten-minute window within a thirty-minute class period.

I, and, Many others, believe that reducing this restriction from ten minutes to five would alleviate these issues without significantly disrupting class time or order. A similar policy has been successfully implemented in other schools across the country, demonstrating its feasibility and effectiveness.

We urge Mankato East High School administration to reconsider their current bathroom policy for the well being and comfort of their students. Please sign this petition if you support reducing the 10-minute bathroom rule to 5 minutes at MEHS.
