Reduce Sydney Harbour Bridge speed limit to 50 km/hour
The issue
There are too many head-on crashes on Sydney Harbour Bridge. Both my mother and daughter-in-law have been involved in this type of crash on the Bridge (neither were at fault).
The best way to help solve this problem is to reduce the speed limit on the Bridge 50 km/hour.
The length of the Bridge plus approaches is 1.7 km. At 70 km/h this takes 1.5 minutes. At 50 km/h this takes 2.1 minutes. A difference of 0.6 of a minute (36 seconds).
No reasonable motorist could complain about this. At 50 km/hour the risk of injury and damage to vehicles is significantly reduced.
