Reduce suffering of strays in Crete

Reduce suffering of strays in Crete
The Issue
When I was very young on my first vacation to Crete with my mom, I saw a orange ginger tabby kitten on the streets of Herakleion Crete hovered in the corner of busy sidewalk alone, dirty frightened and crying while people walking past it next to a very busy by road. The fate of this kitten is unknown but the image of that young kitten cries and suffering has been imbedded in my memory and has stayed with me all these years .
Since then, for years, I avoided vacationing in Crete as an adult and have become an animal activist and rescuer in my country.
Unfortunately there are a number of sightings of strays that multiple tourist online have reported injuries killings and deaths of many innocent animal in the island of Crete. This has been ongoing for a number of years.
As a yearly tourist to Greece and animal lover I speak for many of fellow tourist and travelers concerned about the suffering of strays in the island of Crete.
All of us want to go and enjoy our vacation where Stray’s and animals are treated in the most Humane Way.
None of us want to return back home remembering the suffering of animals on this island and stuck with these images of killed injured and suffering of animals that are currently on the streets of Crete.
Some of tourist were able to help adopt foster and bring them to the Veterinary, but I urge you as the governor of Crete to consider TNVR program. That has successfully reduce the number of stray population in several countries.
TNVR program will help reduce the population and reduce the suffering of all strays in this area.
TNVR stands for (trap spay and neuter vaccinate and return ).
The future tourism of Crete, and the suffering of many strays animal innocent lives depend on your help . Please contact the governor of Crete with the Ministry of tourism and sign this petition. Thank you.
