Our coronavirus containment measures the have caused economic chaos, job loss and fear.  Our society is fragile and fractured.  Many of our people are vulnerable and likely to experience financial devastation.

Increased starvation, homelessness and destitution are going to result.  We already have many many people in need of help.

South African civil response to this need has been enormous.  Hundreds of feeding schemes have been created all over the country.  These include food, supermarket vouchers, donations of clothing and essential items and money.

But, there is only so much private individuals can do, no matter how passionately they want to help, there is a limit to how much people can afford to help.  There is a limit to how much vulnerable people can themselves afford.

This is not a question of just asking for a donation; men, women and children will starve to death if we don't help.  Men, women and children will freeze to death if we don't help.

We know all of you have donated and contributed greatly.  We are asking you to help even more.

Please reduce prices on staple foods, essential items and goods needed in winter. Maize meal, tinned meat, fish and vegetables, cooking oil and cooking fuel, blankets and winter clothing etc

Men, women and children are going to become destitute.  We are all helping and we need to carry on.  We cannot let people starve.

Please help us so people can help themselves, so we can help others.
